A place to create, share and heal

Monthly writing workshop beginning August 17 • Kickstart Your Writing, Saturdays with Caroline Patterson. 10:30 am-12:30 pm.

Dealing with any illness can challenge our sense of self and make us forget to nurture our creativity. Kickstart Your Writing is an opportunity to shift into a new place. We’ll use easy writing exercises rooted in sensory experiences, past or present, and explore how form and free verse poetry reveals a new you to you. Each month, we’ll try a new form--odes, memory poems, pantoums, poems based on the imagination--in this journey of self-discovery.

This summer we held a multi-session workshop with Marc Moss called, “Finding Your Story,” which culminated in a live storytelling event at Free Cycles on July 19th. these were the storytellers and stories featured that night.

Living Art believes creative self-expression is an essential life skill. Illness and loss shut you down and put you into survival mode, causing decreased mental and physical well-being. People need a place where they can reconnect to themselves in order to heal. Living Art provides that place. We tell them they are enough, and that’s why it means so much to me.
